Rising of the Son
Easter Sunday 5th April, 2015
6am

A service of Holy Communion held on North Bay outside of Blue Crush Café/Bar and Sands Development followed by breakfast in Watermark Café (for those who wish to stay) all are welcome to receive communion!

For the last five years we have been holding 'Labyrinths' at Moss Lea Farm in Burniston and at various other locations during the Lent and Easter period. A labyrinth is designed to make us think about Christ's suffering as he journeyed towards the cross. A journey takes you through several stations where you can reflect on the true meaning of Easter and what it means to you.

Pictures from our recent Art and Crafts display from Westway Open Arms, October 2014:

Holy Communion at Westway Open Arms

Every Thursday at 1pm we welcome people from our local community as we come together for an informal Communion service.

We usually gather together a very diverse group of people, some quite new to exploring faith, some have been Christians for many years. One member of our community always brings in fabulous biscuits which we enjoy over a cuppa after our time of worship.

Together with members of our community with learning difficulties we enjoy a time of uplifting fellowship with different styles of communion, sometimes using creative materials. We are blessed to have a variety of approaches and styles and enjoy the support of local ministers who come in and bring their own blend of gifts and expressions.

Summer Nights Sacred Space, Filey:
July 12th, 13th, 21st, 26th & 27th
August 9th, 10th & 23rd
8 - 10pm (approx and subject to suitable weather conditions)

Come and light a candle...
  • If you have something to celebrate
  • In memory of a loved one
  • For someone who is ill
  • To bring to mind a troubled situation
  • or any other reason... it's up to you!

Enjoy the summer nights beach atmosphere

Lighting a candle is free. The local churches simply want to bring spirituality to you on the beach.

Sacred Space Quotes:

“thank you for being here on the beach, I don’t go to church”

“I’m not religious...but I found that really moving”

“I feel as though a weight has been lifted from me”

“this space couldn’t have come at a better time for me”

“today is a significant anniversary, this is special, thank you”

These quotes are just a tiny sample of the many encounters and conversations we have had over the last 4 years of Summer Nights Sacred Space on the Beach. Often people write names of loved ones, hopes and prayers in the sand by their lantern.

All ages seem to engage with this expression of God’s love in our seaside community and we have been moved by the touching stories of peoples lives, loves and losses. We have been blessed as we see God heal, bless, comfort and release people in this most beautiful church without walls.
